This website commemorates Old Cranleighans and Cranleigh masters who lost their lives serving their country, from the Matabeleland Rebellion through to Northern Ireland. The bulk of those included died during or as a direct result of the two World Wars. In all, 187 died in World War One and 168 in World War Two and well over one thousand old boys fought in each conflict.
The original memorial to those who died in World War One was unveiled in 1921, and this was replaced in 1949 by a second memorial which included those who fell in World War Two. At that time the official number of those known to have died was 269, but recent research has identified almost 100 additional OCs. These were included on the new memorial which was unveiled on July 1, 2016.
There are individual biographies for all those who fell in World War One, together with, where available, other service information as well as copies of photographs of the fallen which were hung in the Chapel cloisters. Further biographies will be added in the coming years.
